Steve James is the Chief Executive Officer of Teachers Mutual Bank Limited. Having worked in a diverse range of management roles at Teachers Mutual Bank Limited over the last 30 years, Steve has played a significant role in its growth and success. He became Chief Executive Officer in 2005. Steve has been an active participant in both the national and global mutual banking movement, including participating on many national credit union committees, developing his understanding and appreciation of the environment of mutual banking organisations. He is committed to ensuring Teachers Mutual Bank Limited maintains its high level of member service, employee satisfaction, and financial performance.

Nichole is a brand and marketing leader with 25 years’ experience across ANZ, Asia and the Middle East. Nichole has worked within a variety of industries including financial services, telecoms, technology, prestige beauty and creative agencies.

As Chief Marketing Officer for Teachers Mutual Bank Limited, Nichole is responsible for defining the organisation’s marketing strategy and go to market execution, driving new-to-bank lead generation, member growth and engaging experiences across our portfolio of divisions. Additionally, she is responsible for research and insights, as well the organisation’s product strategy, roadmap, and management of the full suite of banking products.

Glenn has over 40 years of banking experience in a variety of national and multi-national financial services companies, including 25 years in one of Australia’s largest banks. He has extensive experience across all aspects of risk and banking operations as well as compliance and prudential requirements.

Glenn is passionately focused on demonstrating and promoting a positive risk culture and embedding sound risk management practices, to ensure that risks are assessed in a consistent and timely manner that reflects the best interests of Teachers Mutual Bank Limited.

Neil Kenzler joined Teachers Mutual Bank Limited in 2009 as Chief Risk Officer and has overseen the Bank’s growth in size, divisions and importantly in its maturity of its risk management.

He was appointed to the newly created role of Chief Strategy Officer in December 2020 to continue the success of the Bank through increased utilisation of data and technology that will transform the delivery of products and services to our members.

Neil has a proactive and engaged approach to management of people which facilitates a culture of challenge and innovation.

Carolyn Murphy has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, having worked across technology, operations and frontline sales in a variety of roles. Carolyn is committed to delivering the very best member experience, as well as products and services that are aligned to our members’ needs.

Carolyn assisted in growing the Bank in WA and most recently established our Health Professionals Bank division and Victorian presence.

Carolyn is a very proud 2019 Alumni of the Global Alliance Banking on Values Leadership Academy. She is a collaborative leader, committed to continuous improvement and sustained business success. Carolyn was appointed to the Executive team in March 2021, and she is inspired by the opportunity to drive digital innovation, working with partners and the business to grow our digital bank.

Glenn Sargeant joined Teachers Mutual Bank Limited in 1989 as a trainee accountant, completing his accounting degree part-time in the evenings. He has since worked in numerous roles in the Finance department, developing the expertise to implement effective strategies to continue our excellent financial performance. He is committed to providing the products, services, resources and advice to empower every member to take control of their finances now and make the most of their resources through planning for the future.

Marco Sicurella joined the Human Resources team at Teachers Mutual Bank Limited in 2002 and was appointed to the Executive Team in 2021. As the Acting Chief Human Resources Officer, Marco has played an integral role in building an organisation that values its employees and provides professional development opportunities that have resulted in low turnover, high employee engagement and a uniquely inspiring workplace culture. His goal is for Teachers Mutual Bank Limited to be recognised as an ethical organisation that meets its strategic objectives, promotes diversity and inclusion at all levels, maintains a safe and healthy working environment and supports flexibility through new ways of working to enable increased productivity and an enhanced employee experience. Marco is a member of the Australian Human Resources Institute and plays an active role in various HR and WHS related industry groups from within both the mutual banking and broader finance industry sectors.

Gerard has been working in the Banking and Financial Services Industry for over 25 years. His professional background includes experience in sales and marketing, e-commerce and digital, project management, contact centres, technology implementation and knowledge management.

His current role is Chief Information Officer at Teachers Mutual Bank Limited responsible for Information Technology, the Enterprise Portfolio Office, Enterprise Data and Analytics, and Digital Services.

Chartered Governance Professional, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner.

As Company Secretary, Fred has a leading role in the effective governance and administration of Teachers Mutual Bank Limited. He was previously the Bank’s Chief Internal Auditor, leading a professional team dedicated to best practices in risk management, corporate governance and control frameworks.

Fred is active in both national and global banking spheres, and remains a member of national industry-related committees. He is committed to ensuring Teachers Mutual Bank Limited meets the expectations and needs of key stakeholders including directors, management, staff, members and regulators. 

Fred strives to always put people first, and strongly believes in the ethical and professional ethos of Teachers Mutual Bank Limited.

Alan has had an extensive career within the financial services industry, working in various roles across major banks, retail brokerages and mutuals. This experience has given Alan a broad overview of the financial services industry whilst specialising in mortgage lending and business development.

Alan is committed to developing and leading the overall strategic direction for member experience. He leads the teams responsible for the sales functions across our four divisions including branches, the Lending Solutions Centre and mobile teams. Alan also manages the stakeholder relationships and partnerships focused on building the financial wellbeing of our members and the communities we support.
